
Hello! I’m Scott Koepke, founder and instructor of Garden Bridge Outreach (GBO).
I was previously the Farm Manager for the Indian Creek Nature Center. I am an Iowa Board of Educational Examiners licensed substitute teacher, and the 2019 recipient of the Iowa State Education Association’s Friend of Education Award. I founded New Pioneer Food Co-op’s Soilmates, a garden and life skill education service for children, and co-founded Grow Johnson County, a hunger relief farm. I have taught garden life skill curricula at both juvenile and adult correctional facilities, and was on staff as a Counselor at Linn County Juvenile Detention Center. I have also taught soil science, organic gardening, local foods economics & policy, and composting classes at Kirkwood Community College’s Continuing Education Program. I am a graduate of Iowa State University and a former Peace Corps Volunteer. I am a certified ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) instructor and was recently certified in 2024 as a CWH (Community Health Worker) from the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health
